Way Too Many Drapes And Never Adequate Designs
In all probability my favorite space to spend time in is the kitchen. It has been that way in every house that I have lived in recently, but the one I currently have is a little to small to spend a great amount of time in. It seems like every kitchen that I have lived in recently has been equipped with the smallest windows imaginable and as a result has left me with a selection of only small window draperies. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can never find window treatments that I love.
Lately I have spent way more time than I should need to searching for sheers for my kitchen. I find this to be utterly ridiculous but it is very true. I have gone to all of the stores in my town and even in the city nearby but I have yet to find anything that I like. It should be a simple matter of choosing a color or pattern that will match what is in my kitchen, but I have not found anything that appeals to me. I have to be able to enjoy my drapes though as they are something that I am going to have to look at on a daily basis. I have a hard time finding curtains and drapes for the rest of my house, but nothing is more frustrating than trying to find them for the kitchen.
I do have some shades on my dining room windows, but searching at them is not something that pleases me. They are rather plain with one solid color and I was hoping for something more along the lines of having a pattern. I understand that it is kind of a lame and petty thing to complain and whine about, but whenever I look at them they make me feel down.
I have noticed that I am not the only person that has this problem, My mom is another person who has a habit of changing the drapes in her kitchen regularly as she can never find a set she can deal with. My mothers lack of satisfaction with her draperies is understandable though as she has spent over half of her years on this earth inside of a kitchen.
I am not really that proper with fabric, string, and needle, but when I look at the selection of shades I really deliberate making my own. I am going to say those famous last words, “It can’t be that hard right?”. You really wouldn’t think that it would be. I know I can find a piece of material that I like, because I have seen many in a craft store that I had thought would make great kitchen drapes. I am just going to have to break down and do it if I cannot find something that I will be happy with soon. It’s not that I don’t like to sew, it’s that I don’t have a sewing machine. That said the only option that I have for sewing curtains is to do them by hand. The drapes that I put together by hand would in all probability pass for a pillow case before a curtain, but at least I won’t have a reason to whine about the pattern.
